With the aim of cultivating next generation Indian engineering talent, Huawei organizes ICT Competition

Huawei has reportedly organized the 3rd edition of its ICT Competition in India as a part of its mission to boost the local ICT ecosystem as well as identify young talent. The competition was participated by 1, 100 students from nine engineering institute across India. The shortlisted top three children will be given the opportunity to represent India at the Global finals in China with the chance to learn from global experts.

The Huawei sponsored annual ICT competition aims to develop and attract talent in the country for the growing ICT industry. Students get an exposure to ICT learning wherein they receive global certification from Huawei’s ICT Academy program that has been designed to create a pipeline of industry ready future telecom professionals for Huawei’s partners.

Via its ICT academy, Huawei organizes ICT competition across several countries in order to invite universities and colleges to take part and encourage student’s training in ICT technologies. After appearing in the India National finals, the team which qualifies from the top five ICT academies in India will then get to participate in the regional finals competing with different teams of South East Asia (SEA) region. Then the ones who win the SEA will get to participate in the global finals wherein the teams representing different countries/regions will participate. The Huawei ICT inception since its inception, has covered 61 countries across the world with involvement of more than 100, 000 students from 1,600 universities as well as colleges.

Huawei in 2013 rolled out the Huawei ICT Academy or HAINA which is a joint program between universities from around the world and Huawei. The Academy works around transferring knowledge about Huawei’s ICT products and technologies to university students globally and motivates them to participate in technical certifications. The program’s mission is to develop innovative technical professionals needed in the ICT industry as well as society and build a healthy ICT talent ecosystem. The Academy provides a range of ICT courses for global universities based on emerging technologies such as storage, cloud, big data, AI and IoT.

Huawei being a long-term partner of India, aims to build the country as one of the biggest ICT markets worldwide. The company holds its presence of 20 years in the country and it has also been a part of huge collaborations with the government as well as local ecosystem players coming up with industry-first innovations which has helped in regards with advancing domain along with building skilled talent for the local industry.
