NEw DELHI: In order to study the application of artificial intelligence technology to business, Sony Corp. will open its first research centre in India in 2020.
AI technologies easily adaptable to the entertainment field will be developed by the centre.
A Sony spokesperson reportedly said that While Bengaluru is already a secure market to them, they now want to reinforce their research and development centre.
Sony India Software Centre Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Sony’s Software Development is also located in the city.
Hiring of 10 people at the new applied AI centre has been planned in the first fiscal year.
Sony reportedly has the vision to open similar centres at multiple locations in India and collaborate with individual researchers and local universities for encouraging and promoting research talent.
Sony is into the business of software development for more than 20 years now.
