The Technology major IBM Reportedly will be collaborating with central and state governments in order to train more than two lacs Indian girls over the next three years engineering and maths, science and technology. According to reports this training will just not focus on technical skills but also life skills.
IBM and seven state governments in the country will collaborate together in order to help girls’ study in government school and get trained for ‘new collar jobs’ as well as STEM. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Girls will have projects based on STEM for a better understanding of the subject. Nevertheless, IBM’s AI-powered mentor platform will consist of 4,000 mentors and 6 lacs mentees and out of that there will also be 5 female mentees.
IBM has also partnered with Kendriya Vidyalaya in order to help the maths teacher mentor students, specially the female ones. This will be with the assistance of the company’s AI platform ‘Teacher Advisor with Watson’. The IT company has also joined hands with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and they are launching an Advanced degree programme in the new age technologies. This programme will be conducted in 100 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and half of the institutes will consist of women.
When it comes to teachers’ training, IBM will also help four million educationists with the help of the Indian Open Educational Resources in Science training, and this will also be a part of the STEM.
