Every year, hundreds of thousands of students from across the world sign up for the Microsoft Imagine Cup to showcase their innovative ideas that can bring a positive change to the world. This year, over 10,000 Indian students from more than 50 institutions participated in the India leg of the competition. Over 60% of the solutions were built on the back of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on Cognitive Services and chatbots.
A combination of cutting-edge AI and a focus on solving real world problems for a wider impact helped the three winning teams stand out to be nominated for Imagine Cup finals in Seattle. Here are the three teams that will be representing India at the Microsoft Imagine Cup global finals –
- RealVol from IIIT Delhi is enabling medical diagnoses in Virtual Reality

- Practikality from Amity International School, Delhi is AI-assisted communication app for people with disabilities
Practikality is a machine learning based assistant to help the differently abled communicate efficiently. The app serves as voice for the mute, listening tool for the deaf and vision for the blind.
These three teams are among the 49 teams from across the globe that will participate in the World Finals which will be held between July 23-25 at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington. The winners stand a chance to win $100,000 or three special awards, worth $15,000 each, for innovative and world-changing ideas and a mentorship session with Satya Nadella.
