Monitoring the EdTech Trends – A Timeline

Modern learning is seamlessly integrating technology into spaces that are designed around teaching and learning. This is giving the instructors and students the tools they need to succeed in a physical setting that promotes collaboration and supports multiple learning styles. Audiovisual equipment and even classroom furniture, along with connected devices are an important part of modern learning environments and also essential to creating spaces that are conducive to teaching that focuses on future-ready skills. Let’s take a look at the timelines of how the latest technologies will impact the education sector.

One Year or Less

Markerspaces – Under this, students use tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers, and animation software. They are emerging as a vehicle to expose students to technical disciplines and encourage creative and entrepreneurial thinking.

Robotics – To promote critical and computational thinking, and to provide hands-on learning in STEM subjects, educators are leveraging robotics.

Two or Three Years

Analytics – Schools will develop improved ways to make targeted decisions that will enhance student learning and assist at-risk students as they work with and interpret Big Data.

Virtual Reality – Educators can transport students to distant geographical locations and give them up-close views of scientific phenomena ranging from hurricanes to the circulatory system using VR headsets and applications.

Four to Five Years

Artificial Intelligence – AI has the potential to relieve teachers of tedious tasks by providing insights into teaching and learning.

Internet of Things – Already helping schools operate their facilities more efficiently, IoT will also help educators better understand how certain actions can impact student achievement.
